The Life of a Ski Seasonaire
By Richard A French

Ever thought about doing a ski season? There are loads of great jobs to choose from, bar staff, lifty, odd job man, hotel staff, or chalet host. Woking in a Ski Resort is both hectic, but ultimately amazingly satisfying. Waking up in the fresh mountain air, the spectacular views, great night-life and of course the snow! So what is it really like doing a ski season and what are some tips.

Well the first thing is that working in a Ski resort is extremely hard work. Looking after guests all week long, making sure you go out every night until late, and then finally hitting the piste for some runs during the day - it's full on! Plus the harder you work the more likely you are to get tips so you have to push yourself to the limits.

Of course you will also want to buy your own equipment which is often expensive. Be it a snowboard and boots, or skis and boots, goggles, jackets, helmets, gloves, it all starts to add up. A lot of ski resorts will allow you to buy equipment at the beginning of the year and pay it off over the season. There is also another factor that you need to be aware of and that is getting injured. With your days so full, you body so full of alcohol, and on the snow ever day lots of accidents happen. You start to notice how many people have broken legs and arms! So make sure you have good insurance, especially insurance for going off piste and if you do get injured don't panic, there is still plenty to do in the resort!
