You bought all the right equipment and now you're ready to hit the slopes with your snowboard. One of the most basic techniques in snowboarding is carving. Carving is simply linking a toe side turn with a heel side turn. May sound simple, but here are some steps to make you a pro:

Discover Making Snowboarding Experience Wonderful
By Adriana N.

You can discover a whole new fun filled snow boarding experience by choosing right board and shoes for you. Get into the snow board magazines and brochures to filter out best board and take a demo to shop the best one finally. In order to buy good shoes ask friends, ask different instructors about the best snowboarding shoes and it is very important to choose a well reputable shop. Boots should fit your feet properly so bring the socks along with you which you wear while snow boarding. Choose soft boots if you are beginner otherwise stiff boots. Now you have completed the first input to your best fun experience.

It is strictly warned to not wear cotton base dress as it absorbs moisture and ends up cold and wet so it's better to look for polyester or polypropylene materials. Choose nice fleece jacket on the base clothes to avoid shivering. Wear long under wear pants but that must be made of waterproof material. A secret to a nice snow boarding experience is to take warm gloves, goggles, a hat and a helmet with you on the ride.

Snowboarding - Chamonix Vs Dolomites
By Jamey Wheeler

"Snowboarding in Europe" is pretty much synonymous with "blue skies and great snow"; the only difficult part about planning a trip to the European slopes is deciding where to go. There are many factors to take into consideration when making this decision, including whether to hire a car or book a transfer; is the resort family friendly; nightlife/après ski; self-catered or catered and much more. Hopefully by the time you've narrowed down the mitigating factors you'll be left with few resorts from which to choose.

Here's a quick comparison of two of my holidays:

Chamonix: - Arabba, Dolomites:

9 people - 4 people

Hired a van - Airport transfer (coach)

Self-catering chalet - Self-catering condo

Less than one hour from Geneva airport - 3+ hours from airport

If you're looking for a way to have fun and get fit in the snow you may be in the market for a snowboard. If you're an experienced snowboarder you might be considering a new board or an upgrade; if you're new to the sport you might not have any idea beyond getting some kind of board so you can get started. But whether you're a new or seasoned rider, it's a good idea to start with an overview of the different boards available and their major features.

Snow Boarding Terms - Lessons For Beginner Snowboarders
By Wendy Pan

Snowboarding is a snow sport. This sport is done on snow covered slop just like a ski hill. Riders stand on a board similar to a surf board and ride it down a hill. Along with learning how to ride the snowboard, you must know your snowboarding terms. Learning snowboarding terms will help you understand what everyone is talking about, so you can have the best experience. If you didn't know snowboarding terms, you probably would end up confused and not have a very good time.

Backside Air

While riding the half pipe, any point where your board is not touching the pipe is called backside air.

Bail

While in the middle of a trick, you change your mind and do not complete it.

Snowboard Boots - How to Select the Perfect Pair
By Anne Clarke

Snowboard boots are one of the few necessary pieces of equipment for this particular winter sport. In addition to this, they are the direct interface between the rider and the board. This equipment allows an individual to effectively transfer his or her weight to move, turn and accelerate while snowboarding. The comfort, fit, and particular traits of a boot style will greatly affect the snowboarding experience.

These boots work along with bindings which are used to lock them into place. They are heavily insulated and waterproofed in order to protect the feet of the rider from both the wetness and the chill of the snow. Of course, a rider must make sure he or she is strapped well into the boots to avoid allowing snow to enter them.

Top 10 Freestyler Snowboard Tricks
By Etienne Peysson

If you are looking for a few nice snowboard tricks to achieve during this season, here is my favorite list.

- The Rodeo 540

Travis Rice reviewed this trick, but the explanation can vary a little from different Freestyler such as in the amateur video (see the link below).

Basically you should get high enough from the ramp and flip your crunched body, head backward looking in the direction you wish to take and spinning your legs and board in the mean time to finally reach the ground with a 540 rotation. I personally love this trick as it drives a real boost of adrenaline and having the head leading the whole body while down is a great feeling.

Learn To Snowboard This Winter And Have Fun
By Paul Zayer

Are you a good skier? Why I am asking this is because experienced skiers are people who love being outside in the colder months. Skiers can spend hours on a hill and enjoy the brisk air. For them they may want to consider another sport that is just as invigorating and thrilling.

You can learn to snowboard without too much difficulty if you are already a brilliant skier. You may think that this sport is just for the younger set. It's true that a lot of teenagers and young adults in their twenties are crazy about snowboarding, but you can learn to snowboard even in your forties or fifties. The main requirements are a spirit of adventure and a great sense of balance.

What Size of Snowboard Should I Ride?
By Justin Lake

Most of the time people ask: What length board is best for me?. An often unasked, but equally important question is: What width board is best for you? Both snowboard length and width factor heavily in finding and buying the correct size snowboard.

There are a number of key factors to consider when determining the perfect board. The first is to determine your riding ability are you:

A. Beginner- first time, newbie, taking a lesson, snowboarded 1-3 times

B. Intermediate- board 3-5 times a year, ride fakie, catch some air, turns no problem.

How to Wax a Snowboard

How to Wax a Snowboard
By Andrew Cho

Waxing is the easiest tuning job for snowboards and offers immediate results. Since wax makes it easier for snowboards to glide over snow, a waxed board will slide faster and turn easier. Waxing also protects the base form the harmful effects of moisture, UV rays, snow contaminants, and dirt.

If you're a recreational snowboard, waxing your board every two or three times you go should do the trick. If you're looking to have the smoothest rides, you can always wax more often. Some spray or wipe-on waxes can be used between wax applications and even when you're on the slopes.

To wax your board, you will need wax, an iron (or waxing machine), a plastic scraper, and a brush.
